Freestyle Swiss Series 2021

12. – 13. June 2021

First Swiss Freestyle Series on lake Urnersee!

Isleten (UR) – On the weekend of June 12-13, 2021, the Swiss kitesurfing scene celebrated a successful premiere. The SKA Freestyle Swiss Series, a kitesurfing competition with various disciplines, was successfully held on the Lake of Uri and the best kitesurfers in Switzerland were crowned.

The event was held in beautiful weather and very good wind conditions in front of a breathtaking backdrop. 30 riders between the ages of 14 and 50 competed in the disciplines Twintip, Foil and Strapless Surf for the victory and spurred each other on to spectacular top performances. The three-member jury team judged from the boat both the difficulty and execution of the jumps as well as the versatility of the tricks shown. In addition to a jury boat, a rescue boat was also on duty to guarantee the safety of the participants at all times.

The fact that the event could be held in perfect wind conditions was no coincidence, although the date had already been fixed for some time. The organizing committee of the Swiss Kitesailing Association (SKA) planned to hold the theoretical event that weekend at five different locations in Switzerland and decided on a definite venue only two days before the start. Based on the weather forecasts, the Lake of Uri was then chosen as the venue, which turned out to be a perfect choice.

The organizing committee could inspire many sponsors for the event in the run-up. Thus, the winners of the different disciplines and categories could look forward to prize money and other very attractive prizes. The staging of this event is also part of the Swiss Kitesailing Association’s youth development program to inspire young Swiss talent for the 2024 Olympic Games, where Olympic medals for kitesurfing will be awarded for the first time.
